Learn How To Have A Tree From An Old House Transplanted To Your New House

If you plan to move to a new home in the near future and you have a favorite tree at your old home that you do not want to leave behind, consider relocating it to your new house. There are many people who do not realize that it is possible to relocate a tree. The guide below walks you through the process of having a tree relocated from one property to another property.

Hire a Tree Removal Company

The first thing you need to do is to hire a tree removal company to move the tree for you. The company will know how to dig up the roots of the tree without damaging them. The company will have the heavy equipment needed to easily transport the tree as well.

Determine the Best Route to Take

You and an associate from the company will work together to find the best route to take when removing the tree from your yard. Since you will be putting your home on the market in the near future, you want to cause as little damage to the yard as possible.

Stabilize the Tree

The first thing that the company will do is stabilize the tree. They will tie ropes around the tree and guide them around surrounding trees to ensure that the tree stays standing as the roots are freed from the ground. Stabilizing the tree allows the removal company to guide it where they want it to go. When stabilizing the tree, the company may trim the branches that will touch the ground because they could break off and hit someone accidentally.

Dig Up the Roots

Once the tree is secure, the company will start to dig up the roots. They may use an excavator to dig around the roots, if there is a lot of soil to remove. Once most of the roots are exposed, the company may use a forklift to reach under the tree to lift it up and out of the ground slightly.

Lay Down the Tree

Once the roots are free, the company will guide the tree down to the ground using the ropes that it fed through the surrounding trees. The company will guide the tree slowly to ensure that they control where it lands when it hits the ground.

Transport the Tree

Once the tree is on its side, the company will use a forklift to lift the tree on a flatbed truck. The tree will be secured using ratchet straps and then transported to your new location.

When the tree arrives at your new house, the company will dig a hole, use a forklift to take the tree to the hole, and then rig up lines to pull the tree up. Once stabilized, the company will fill the hole and ensure the tree is able to stand on its own before removing the ropes. The tree should relocate well if you water it regularly.
