How To Make Sure That Your Bounce House Stays Safe
Bounce houses are a great addition to many children's birthday parties because they give the guests an activity to do that will wear them out and make them more compliant later when they have to watch the birthday child open gifts for a few minutes and not be totally entertained. However, it can be difficult to make sure that the bounce house stays safe. Normal bumps and bruises are a given when a child enters the bounce house, but here are some steps that you can take in order to make sure that no child sustains any serious injuries.
1. Don't Allow Shoes or Bags in the Bounce House
Create a designated area for children to place their shoes and bags in the bounce house. This will encourage children to not take anything that is hard into the bounce house and risk having it hurt another child. Ask the bounce house manufacturer how many children are allowed into the bounce house at a time. Then, create that many cubbies for children to deposit their coats, shoes, and bags. Place a small whiteboard in front of each cubby so that each child can write his or her name on it. This will help the children feel confident that their personal possessions will be reclaimed later and make them more willing to part with them temporarily.
2. Have Someone Manning the Bounce House At All Times
Next, assign a parent to man the bounce house at all times. This parent should be in charge of making sure that no rough play is happening inside the bounce house and that everyone is having a good time and is not curled up in the corner looking scared. This parent should also not have shoes on in order to make sure that he or she is able to easily enter the bounce house and rescue any children who have become tired, overwhelmed, or disoriented. Finally, the parent will need to set a time limit on how long each batch of children can stay in the bounce house to make sure that the kids don't get tired and lose control and that everyone gets a turn in the bounce house.
3. Set the Bounce House Up on Flat Ground
Finally, make sure that the bounce house is set up on a flat area to make sure that the weight of the bounce house does not shift to the degree that would allow it to pull out its tethers. Doing this will help you make sure that you are able to keep the bounce house safe.
